As soon as I seen a new interactive book, I knew i just had to have it. I have loved interactive books since I was a child in my Goosebumb days.
I was in a huge reading slump before I started this book. I had DNF’d two books and set another one aside, so as soon as The Dinner Party was released I decided to dive right in.
Now, this book did happen to get out of my reading slump… i tried 4 of the different endings, but I was very disappointed with the book itself.
As the reader. We play the character of Sloan, who is having a terrible time of it and is very hard on her look. As an interactive book – at the end of each chapter you have a choice between two ways the story can travel next. Fun right?
Yes, fun! I mean it certainly helped me in the reading slump i was in, and that was because of the excitement of choosing what happens next.
But… the story itself was slow, and not very gripping. Certainly not something I am used to from this author. I could predict what was coming within the plot and found the endings to be, for want of a better word. Boring.
After trying out 4 of the different endings I made the choice to give up. I think the idea of the story could have been great, and hey maybe it was if I had tried the other 16 endings.
Maybe at some point I will come back and try out the other endings and maybe my view could change and there will be another review.
Until next time Bookworms ✌️
