WOW! This was such an incredible read. Im finding it hard to write my review after finishing it because my head is still well and truly stuck in the world of the book.
This book predominantly follows Sophie throughout her life as she starts working again after having a baby, with flash chapters back to her time in university.
One thing I love about Mark Edwards books is how familiar they feel, with the odd snippets or sentence even to a past book or character, it makes you feel like you are there and part of the book. (I am a late reader within most of these books, and am not reading them in the order they were written)
The devils work is one of those books that keeps you on your toes. You never know what is coming around that corner. You have your main set of characters, in both the 2015 and 2000 days and they are all likeable except maybe Franklin and i hate to say Cassie. (I still feel uneasy about that one) but slowly you find yourself questioning each character, they become unlikeable – why are they doing this? Except they didnt, did they? So, who?
This book leaves you constantly guessing, which i absolutely love. It is this type of read that makes me unable to put it down and just wanting to puck it up even if I only have a minute spare.
This is what I find myself doing with all yhe Mark Edwards books I have read so far, and he has fast become one of my favourite authors.
The devils work is a fast paced psychological thriller that will have you sat at the end of your seat and is definitely in my favourite Mark Edwards reads, quite possibly even my favourite.
