Dissection of Murder follows Leila and a character we only know as Witness X as Leila, a young barrister takes on her biggest court trial – and first murder case.

Leila is a likeable character on the surface. Married to a fellow barrister, she seems to have the perfect life. Great job. Great husband. Great friends. But when she is personally asked for to represent Jake in a high profile murder trial her life starts to slowly crumble.

The husband Julian, a big shot barrister and a bit of a smug bustard from the off if you ask me, is not so likeable in his too cocky ways but he is the hired prosection in the case. Husband v wife. Oh dear.

I gave this book 3 stars. It was very enjoyable, intriguing and well written, it hit all the right spots. However, for me it was a very slow starter. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed what I was reading and I knew there was more to come. I knew as I continued turning those pages something unexpected was about to happen. But still it was very easy to put down.

Now. When the trial hit, that is when this read became un-put-downable.

Was i on holiday while I was reading this book. Yes. Did I care that I didnt want to do much but pick up my book again. Absolutely not.

When the trial started we started to see characters come out their shell. Julian became even more of an arse and it made me dislike him more. Leila shined, and I was proud of her. The saying ‘women are doing it for thereselves’ comes to mind. She became a firecracker in my mind and I couldn’t wait to see what she was really made of. The defendant had a criminal past, before he was just a character to me, I didnt really have many feelings towards him… he was just the accused but, his character really came iut during the trial and i really liked him. He was like the underdog of the story. The quiet one you pass over but then he became my favourite character.

I figured i knew how the trial was going to end. The verdict that was to come, albeit I didnt expect so many secret little twist and turns to appear which made the plot of the book so captivating i needed to devour it quicker.

What i didnt expect, was the absolute jaw dropping twists that we found out after the trial. The twists that made me question my judgement on characters…

And ultimately led me to the hard decision guilty or not guilty … you decide!
